What are Sermons?
Sermons, also known as preaching, are speeches given in Christian worship assemblies to apply a point of doctrine from the Bible. Sermons can have multiple purposes, including:
- Evangelistic: Communicating the gospel to people who don't know or accept Jesus
- Exhortative: Encouraging believers to grow in their devotion and love for God
- Doctrinal/Theological: Increasing knowledge of God and his truth
- Ethical: Encouraging the audience to grow in their relationships
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
